After a dive, flying or traveling to higher altitude should be avoided during the no-fly time displayed on your dive computer. Wash and dry the dive computer after use. Store your dive computer in a dry and cool place. Don’t leave it in direct sunlight or let it freeze, as it can damage the device.

SAFETY CHECKLIST AFTER YOUR DIVE

After your dive, please keep in mind:

  1. During the no-fly time displayed on your dive computer, flying or traveling to higher altitude should be avoided.
  2. If your dive computer has notified about low battery, please remember to charge the battery or get it changed before your next dive.
  3. Wash and dry the dive computer after use. Rinse very carefully after any salt-water or pool dive.
  4. Store your dive computer in a dry and cool place. Don’t leave it in direct sunlight or let it freeze, as it can damage the device.

SURFACE AND NO-FLY TIME

After a dive, your Suunto dive computer displays surface time since the previous dive and a countdown time for recommended no-fly time. During the no-fly time, flying or traveling to higher altitude should be avoided. Stay with others after the dive. Sometimes the decompression sickness onsets are delayed or gets triggered by surface activities, so it’s good to be with somebody after diving.

The purpose of the no-fly time is to increase your safety: flying or traveling to a higher altitude within the no-fly time can greatly increase the risk of DCS. Always activate the computer to check the remaining no-fly time prior to flying. However, it is very individual, how your body reacts. It’s good to remember that in diving, there is always a risk of decompression injury.

HANDLING GUIDELINES

Maintaining your dive equipment is very important. Always rinse your diving gear, including your dive computer, with fresh water after the dive. Do not leave your dive computer in a bucket of water. The display stays on when in contact with water and consumes the battery life of the device.

Pay special attention to the pressure sensor area, water contacts, pushers and the USB cable port. By flushing the salt and sand away after every dive you can increase the lifetime of your dive computer. It is equally also important to rinse your dive computer after diving in a pool.

Never use compressed air or high pressure water hoses to clean the dive computer, as they may damage the pressure sensor or destroy it. After rinsing, dry the dive computer carefully with a soft cloth and store in a dry and cool place. Don’t leave your device in direct sunlight or let it freeze, as it can also damage the device.

Examine regularly that your dive computer is in good physical condition. If you notice moisture inside the device and/or battery compartment, or if you suspect that your dive computer’s display is providing you with inconsistent data, inaccurate data or an error message before the dive, do not dive with it.
